National Psychosis Treatment Locator

SAMHSA is the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a program under the U.S. Health & Human Services. SAMHSA’s Early Serious Mental Illness Treatment Locator is a confidential and anonymous source of information for persons and their family members who are seeking treatment facilities in the United States or U.S. Territories for a recent onset of serious mental illnesses such as psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and other conditions. These evidence-based programs provide medication, therapy, family and peer support, assistance with education and employment and other services.

Individuals who experience a first onset of serious mental illness – which can include a first episode of psychosis – may experience symptoms that include problems in perception (such as seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting or feeling something that is not real), thinking (such as believing in something that is not real even when presented with facts), mood, and social functioning. There are effective treatments available and the earlier that an individual receives treatment, the greater likelihood that these treatments can lead to better outcomes and enable people to live full and productive lives with their family and friends.

SAMHSA also offers assistance in locating treatment options for behavioral health issues, opiod addiction and substance abuse treatment.
